A new and exiting automobile museum recently opened its doors to the public in Malaga, Spain. The Museo Automovilistico De Malaga displays a collection of 85 extraordinary vintage luxury cars, distributed in thematic areas according to the versatile styles which characterize the artistic evolution of the 20th century. Whether you're driving from Marbella or Malaga, there's no better way to get to a vintage luxury car museum than to drive there with your own luxury rental car.
The Malaga car museum offers a unique approach to vintage luxury cars, viewing them not only as fashion and design icons, but also as cultural and artistic barometers. Prestige cars have always been at the forefront of design trends and fashion statements, but the Malaga based museum goes one step further, pointing out the connections between 20th century art and how it inspired the most coveted cars of that century.
Through a large variety of prestige luxury car models, the story of art in the 20th century unfolds, a century which first saw art – and cars – produced and distributed en mass. On display you will find the finest cars from the most exquisite luxury brands, including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Mercedes, Ferrari, Bugatti, Delage and many more. The vast majority of the 85 cars currently on display are from the private collection of the museum director, Mr. Joao Manuel Magalhaes.
Magalhaes' father started the collection in Oporto, Portugal, and Magalhaes later moved the cars after the City of Malaga spent 9 million euros building the museum. The collection is considered to be one of the most important collections of vintage cars in the world, and is estimated at 25 million euros.
The Museo Automovilistico De Malaga is located in Avenida Sor Teresa Prat 15, Málaga (The Old Tabacalera Building).
Opening hours: Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 to 19:00.
