Rent a Two-Wheel Drive Range Rover in Marbella?
A Range Rover is where luxury and celebrity meet a four-wheel drive. Since the introduction of the first Range Rover Classic model in the 1970s, these luxury 4x4s have been a ‘must have’ car for celebrities, A-list actors, sports stars and other VIPs worldwide. Being a playground for the rich and famous, Marbella naturally has its fair share of Range Rovers driving about, among other luxury 4x4 cars.
Marbella Luxury Car Hire offers Range Rover rentals in Marbella and anywhere in Spain, and we have naturally categorized all our Marbella Land Rover rental cars under our luxury four-wheel drive rental category. But a new Range Rover model, set to hit the road in 2011, may change all that.
Back in the 70s, the Range Rover introduced a new concept of vehicles - a luxury four-wheel drive suited for both on and off-road driving. It has since spawned countless copycat designs, but still manages to stay on top of the luxury 4x4 game by setting trends rather than following them. That’s why the latest announcement from Land Rover came as somewhat of a shock to the car industry in general, as well as the luxury car rental industry in Spain.
In 2011, Land Rover will introduce its first ever two-wheel drive Range Rover model. The new compact Range Rover is based on the Land Rover Freelander, but with a shorter body. It will be the most road-focused, style-conscious Range Rover ever – and that’s saying something.
Land Rover’s managing director, Phil Popham, explained why Range Rover is exploring the two-wheel drive market. “A two-wheel drive option is just one way in which we are developing our vehicles’ efficiency whilst adding to the Land Rover range and expanding our customer base,” he said. “Range Rover will continue to make ‘the world’s finest all-terrain vehicles’ for those customers who require four-wheel drive. We will also now offer an alternative to those that don’t.”
Popham assured hardcore Range Rover fans that there will also be a four-wheel drive version. However, Land Rover has stated that its aim is to reach less than 130g/km of Co2 emissions and to focus on fuel economy. Making a simpler, lighter two-wheel Range Rover is a big step in that direction.
When will this highly anticipated Range Rover hit Marbella? We can’t say for sure, but we can assure you that Marbella Luxury Car Hire will keep updating, so you can be the first to rent the new two-wheel-drive Range Rover in Marbella.
