You can recognize a Jaguar model by its distinctive hood ornament, but Jaguar has also built a solid reputation in the racing industry. After a trip to the famous Le Mans race in 1950, Lyons was convinced that future Jaguars should be designed and built with racing in mind. The following year, the newly built Jaguar C class took to the racetrack and brought home the trophy.

Not satisfied with a mere win at Le Mans, the engineers went back to the drawing board and came up with a remarkable innovation: the disc brake. This enables the cars to decelerate at high speeds of 150 mph leaving the other racers in the dust. That Jaguar took home first, second and fourth place. They would go on to win a total of five Le Mans victories in that decade alone.
